I am delighted to introduce Jessica Harrison and Lucy Biddlestone as the Project Assistants. Currently, they are 2nd year students doing their BA (Hons) Fine Art and Contemporary Art Practices (CAP) at the Leeds School of Contemporary Art & Graphic Design, Leeds Metropolitan University.
Jess and Lucy will assist me on the publicity, creation, running and documentation of the project. More information will follow soon. (T. Tsegmid)
I am pleased to announce that The Light in Leeds has been confirmed as a host location of the proposed project. Before I continue, I would like to thank Brian Oakley, the General Manager of The Light and his colleagues in advance for allowing me to work flexibly in the space and being understanding to my ‘many’ requests.
The shop unit used to be a branch of ‘Eden Park’ and currently not occupied. However, it is temporary and I am very happy to use it while it is available.
Since my relocation to Leeds in 2004, The Light has become my favourite place to spend time and there is never a day I don’t go through the Light because it locates at the heart of the city. The Light has successfully positioned itself as the hub of the shopping, relaxing and entertainment in Leeds. And it is the ideal space for public project. (T. Tsegmid)

LEEDSMET PHD STUDENT IS LOOKING FOR TEMPORARY PROJECT ASSISTANTS!
I am looking for 2 undergraduate students who can assist me on the publicity, creation, running and documentation of my latest piece.
Mama’s Garden: a state of white roses and words of love is a site- specific installation and performance project. The project is geared towards general public and the main purpose is to engage with people who wouldn’t normally go to conventional art galleries or art spaces. The theme is deliberately simple and personal; I am making very efforts to make it as accessible as possible. Please check this link for more details on www.mamasgardenartinleeds.wordpress.com/. I’ve recently secured a non-financial support (they will find me a space) from a scheme called Art in Unusual Spaces led by Leeds City Council. http://www.artinunusualspaces.co.uk/.
What you need to do?
You will assist me in 4 areas of the project:
1. Publicity: designing of a poster and leaflet. 2. Creation: helping to install the site-specific piece 3. Running: the project will run for 10 days ( 2 or 3 days to install and 7 days running the project) and it will be accessible to public minimum of 3 hrs a day (Not Sundays) 4. Documentation: photographing the installation and performance (recording on camera will be useful but not essential).
Who I am looking for?
Preferably, I invite second year students from Graphic Design, Fine Art and CAP courses to apply. If first year students want to get involved, they are encouraged to do so, as long as they are confident they can assist. You will need to be proficient with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop and skilled in taking photography. An interest in site-specific or ephemeral installation or performance art is desirable. And I will do my best to allocate the tasks according to your interests and skills.
In return of your time?
1. You will gain a new contact. 2. An art project assistant experience entry on your CV. 3. A fair and square acknowledgment and credit of your contribution on printed publicity materials, related website/s and any future use of the images you produced. 4. A food/drink provided for free whenever you are assisting me during the public access hours.
When do I need you?
The project is likely to take off in the second half of the March or early April. However, I will need the publicity running as soon as the space location and dates confirmed. I am waiting for the final confirmation from Art in Unusual Spaces.
Interested?
Email me on TSTSendee@yahoo.com to express your interest and we will discuss it further. You can also leave me a message to Pete Bastow from the Photography workshop. I come to the School 2 or 3 times a week. Thanks. Cindy
